Fractal Origami - Sierpinski Tetrahedra

This is a 3D representation of Waclaw Sierpinski's triangle. This fractal is a basic example of a self-similar set. In sort, it's pattern can be mathematically generated to any number of magnifications or reductions. This particular model is a stage 3 magnification. For further info on this fractal please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierpinski_triangle.

I created this model because I wanted to "go big" geometrically. The only unfortunate thing about this model, or any large scale modular model, is the amount of time needed to fold all the pieces. There are 1,725 un-cut square pieces in this model alone. Should I ever attempt stage 4, I would need 6,900 pieces. That, my friends, is slightly out of my purview for the time being.
